The joys of procrastination:

I can't believe I finished 3 more books the week after I borrowed Kushiel's chosen. Four if you count a comic strip collection. Including this week, if you count manga volumes, add 25.

O_o First off was the Kushiel's Chosen book. Damn nice. But it didn't seem as cool as the first book. Oh, but the females rock in this book. I was pratically bleeding from all the sexy pwning. But then it's just 3 books for the series, so I'll be waiting until I can borrow/buy the third one.

The next Tuesday, what I finished was... The Devil wears Prada. In one night. Well, I have no idea what 70% of the merchandise mentioned was, pretty much just amused by all the ways you can drive a personal assistant crazy, and the crazy stuff you can do with too much money. But it's pretty forgetable. I borrowed the book from my sister's roommate. Maybe someday we'll watch the movie together.

The friday after, I bought Tale of the Body Thief by Anne Rice and KikoMachine 2. I've been buying the vampire books because, years ago in high school, someone gave me Memnoch the Devil for christmas. It's the fifth book in the damn series, and I haven't read any of them. Ain't that a shame? I read the thing but didn't appreciate the other characters butting in every now and then because I ididn't understand. So this year, I started buying the things from the first book. And with BodyThief I'm pretty much done. (After Memnoch, wouldn't anything else be anti-climactic? And I find Armand quite a boring character, I don't care how pretty/tragic he is.) Lestat grows on you a little, especially with all the stupid things that he does. But then, I find that Anne Rice is kinda... overrated. The first half of Queen of the Damned was the best part, IMO, since the whole 'gathering' thing was cool. Kikomachine 2, the comic strip anthology, was a random impulse buy, but at least it'll add another dent to the comics paper I've been trying to start. It was amusing, though deeply grounded in UP culture. My sister ran off with it, though.

for the last few weeks or so.  However this week, since my internet has been working pretty good, I've been junking on manga. 20 episodes of Bleach filler. Completed 19 volumes of Jiraishin today. Yay for twisted shonen detective stuff. I was also randomly downloading first volumes of some series that have caught my eye, just to find something that I could like (and sustain me through Bleach withdrawals). Dragon voice was incredibly fun, I remembered the tankoubon that [profile] muning used to lug around. The dancing sequences and posing are priceless. I'm probably gonna be using some for drawings. After I finish off Pet Shop of Horrors I'll probably continue on to Skip Beat. Or complete my Black Cat collection. Or continue Death Note since the last time I read it was chapter 63.

Also been re-reading Umberto Eco's Baudolino for the 3rd time. Because I've re-read Foucault's Pendulum twice this eyear already (for the past 6 years, I reread it at least once annually). Umberto Eco is like my zen master. I read his books repeatedly because it soothes my brain.

Oh, I also read Palahniuk's book titled Choke. A couple of years ago my CW 10 prof recommended it to me saying "It's better than fight club". But if youv'e pretty much collected all of the other books, he gets really...well, annoying. Or maybe becasue I read Haunted like a month before, and all the gross just numbs you. But it's all the same message of 'we are doomed because we're brainless, devolving leeches/monkeys/addicts/cannibals'. Although at least, for Choke, it's a relatively happy ending. It takes me this much to realize this writer's too American and wasted. Oh well, at least that completes most of my Palahniuk collection. >_> all that money. I lose money buying too many books that I read too fast. I have to remind myself of this.

Hmm. I haven't downloaded any Yaoi or Yuri lately. Woe is me.
