Life Update

A short one, anyway - just so people would know I haven't turned into a rotting corpse yet.

Basically, I've been busy studying Japanese AND answering job interviews that come my way. The latter half is what pressures me the most, and it's a little heartbreaking when I don't measure up to most standards. But I don't want to talk about real life problems online, so I'll leave it at that.

My goals for this year (wow, I sure am late, it's already February!)

*Master 2000+ Kanji in preparation for JLPT2
Yep, you heard that right. Meanings, reading, compounds, the works. I realized this was my biggest weakness with the language, so I've started on a regiment of daily kanji memorization (starting with identification and averaging out around 60 per day so far).

*Read through all my advanced grammar textbooks
Japan Foundation was awesome enough to give us so much free/discounted textbooks while we were in Japan (I had to send a box home because it couldn't fit in the luggage), and I've barely read through them. It's great, though - if I master these, it'll lessen the time I take browsing through books and dictionaries whenever a conjugation stumps me.

*Pass JLPT2
So that I'll be decently employable at last.

*Get a job
ie. Stop being a hikkikomori and start helping out. It may or may not happen before the previous goal, but this is the big one.

*Be a nicer person
Well. Or be more human, in a way. A couple of things that shocked me last year was how different my perception of myself is, and from other people. Even my parents. I don't react or get as emotional as other people get, and apparently that has been interepreted as a)Indifference b)Boredom, c)Apathy d)Arrogance - leading to a lot of problems relating to people. Misunderstandings tend to accumulate over time.

*Draw more

Damn. And I signed up for a 50 doodle challenge too.

*Read a novel (or more) in Japanese
What I bought my Keiichi Sigusawa collection in Japan for. Plus, it helps with the language.

Well, that's basically it, so far.

Also, fandom:
@ Weiss: Still awesome after all these years. I love it.

@ Bleach: With all the shit coming down, I'm glad that most of my fandom's response is: Clearly, we need to draw more porn. This is something I can get behind, yes.

@ Yami no Matsuei: Volume 12 was released, after 8 years! HURRAY! Also, glad to find the corner of the fandom that's not in it just for the BL subtext (which might disappear considering the new direction it's taking - but I'm actually in it for the plot and the cool universe. Also, it has cool girls which are often neglected). One of my oldest fandoms is suddenly revived.

@ Everything else: Baccano fans are having a ball over Durarara. D: I don't usually watch an anime WHILE IT'S STILL BEING AIRED, but this is so fun, I had to keep watching.

It's my biggest stumbling block in Japanese. And well, if I want to get a decent job by the end of the year, I'd better conquer it.

Thanks for the support.
